How It Works

Four Steps From First Swatch to Final Install

A clear, predictable process with no handoffs, no surprise fees and honest lead times.
  1. 1

    Free consultation

A designer visits with samples. Book yours.
  2. 2

    Measure & quote

Every opening is measured and priced window by window so you can phase work by room.
  3. 3

    Fabrication

Shades and blinds take two to four weeks; drapery and upholstery four to eight.
  4. 4

    Install & walkthrough

Our own team installs, programs motors, cleans up and shows you how everything works.

Photos only tell part of the story. Behind every finished room is a set of decisions about light, privacy, insulation and how the family actually lives in the space. A drapery panel that looks effortless in a photo was measured to the quarter inch, lined for the room's exposure and weighted so it hangs straight for years. A row of shades that lines up perfectly was planned so each headrail sits at the same height across windows of different sizes.

When you see a look you like here, we can adapt it to your home in Waltham or anywhere in Greater Boston — changing color, fabric, mount or operation to suit your windows and your budget.

Designer Tips

Six Guidelines Our Designers Swear By

Whether you are treating one window or an entire house, these principles help you make confident choices before your consultation.
1

Start with how the room is used

A bedroom needs darkness and quiet, a home office needs glare control, a family room needs durability and easy operation. Function first, then style — the right fabric or shade follows naturally once we know what the room has to do every day.

2

Mount higher and wider than you think

Hanging drapery hardware close to the ceiling and extending it past the window casing makes windows look taller and lets panels stack off the glass. It is the single easiest way to make a room feel bigger and brighter.

3

Layer for flexibility

A functional shade underneath and decorative drapery on top gives you privacy by day, darkness at night and softness year-round. Layering also adds insulation that you will notice during a Greater Boston winter.

4

Mind the sun

South- and west-facing rooms fade floors, rugs and upholstery. Solar shades, lined drapery and UV-resistant fabrics protect what you have invested in without shutting out the view.

5

Keep kids and pets safe

Cordless lifts and motorized shades remove dangling cords entirely. We recommend them by default in nurseries, children's rooms and any home with curious pets.

6

Think about the whole house

Consistent shade colors and hardware finishes from the street give a home a tidy, cohesive look, even when every room inside uses a different style. We plan exterior appearance as carefully as interior design.
